How To Transfer Whatsapp Messages From Blackberry To Android Phone

Whatsapp is a cross-platform instant messaging app and one of the most popular around. Almost everyone I know these days use Whatsapp for instant messaging and chatting . You often find people pressing their phones even on the walk ways chatting away on Whatsapp. Whatsapp is really an awesome app to have as it makes it easy to keep in contact with lots of people, share information, pictures, videos and so much more.
But oftentimes people change smartphones, and one of the challenges they face is usually how to transfer their Whatsapp messages from their old smartphones to the new ones.

Recently a friend was faced with how to transfer her Whatsapp messages from Blackberry to Android and this little challenge inspired me to write this article, to help others like her out there looking for how to transfer their entire Whatsapp messages and shared files such as images from Blackberry to Android.

In today’s article I want to teach you how you can transfer Whatsapp messages from Blackberry to Android.

While it may be easy for some people to simply let go of all the old messages in their old phone and start a new life on their new phone, this is not the case with this my friend. She wants to move every single message she has had with anyone to her new Android phone.

Luckily I found a way to transfer her Whatsapp messages from the Blackberry to HTC One XL seamlessly. After reading this guide, you can transfer your Whatsapp chats  from Blackberry to any Android phone, you can even start off from where you left off in your Blackberry as if its same phone.

Here is how to transfer Whatsapp messages from Blackberry to Android easily.

1.    Backup your chat  history on the Blackberry
First you need to backup your entire Whatsapp chat history on the Blackberry. To do this simply launch the Whatsapp application on the blackberry and navigate to the Settings, top on the “Chat  Settings” and then tap the “Backup Chat  History”.

Your entire Whatsapp chat  history will be backed up on your Blackberry device. The Whatsapp chat  history backup is usually stored in the Whatsapp/Databases folder. The file is usually saved as msgstore-year-month-day.db.crypt.

So if you backed up your Whatsapp chat history today being the 26th of January, 2016 the backup file name will be msgstore-2016-01-26.db.crypt. Copy this backup file to your computer.

 2.    Restore backup on Android
Then install Whatsapp on your new Android smartphone from the Google Play Store. After the app installation, do not launch it yet.
Connect your Android device to the PC where you saved the backup file you copied from the Blackberry.
Navigate to your Whatsapp/Databases folder on the Android smartphone. Paste the backup file you copied from the Blackberry into the folder.

Then launch the Whatsapp app you installed earlier on the Android, you will be asked to enter a phone number for verification, enter same phone number you used on the Blackberry phone and you will get a notification that backup was found on your device.

Click on the “Restore” option to restore your entire Whatsapp chat history from the Blackberry to the Android.
What the restore is complete you will still be asked to enter a name and profile picture and you will see that your entire chat history has been transferred from your old Blackberry device to your new Android smartphone.
You can simply continue your chats from where you left off on the Blackberry as nothing is lost.

This is how I transferred the entire Whatsapp messages from Blackberry to HTC One XL for a friend without losing a thing. The guide is an easy to follow one, but if you have challenges you can use the comment section below to ask for help from me.
